We recently came across a New Zealand Police poster covering "Motorbike Safety", specifically the topic of motorbike "gear" (or protective clothing). We are sharing this for the information of riders and as something to take into consideration for the safety of your rides - allowing you to make a more informed and educated choice.

It has been brought to the attention of the VMC by one of our members that new no motorcycle parking signs have appeared at the back of Federation Square. We note that the area concerned is behind bollards and adjacent to a fire hose and stairs/lift to a car park etc. There are clear safety reasons for keeping this area clear.

There does

From time to time we hear claims that older riders are over represented in motorcycle crashes. It is then assumed this is due to returning riders with a subsequent push for some sort of training for them.

As riders, we've all experienced the quietening of thoughts, the headspace creation, the welcome distraction, the lessening of stress when we go "Helmet on, World off" and set off down the road.. and now there's another study that confirms that it is all true.

The end of the motorcycle? 

Here's something to mull over while you digest your xmas roast and egg nog... Is there a place for motorcycles in the automated vehicle future? Would that future have far less soul without powered two wheels
