Motocap Lab Open Day Sunday 19th March

Motocap Lab is a laboratory located at Deakin University's Geelong campus.

Motocap is responsible for the testing and rating of all motorcycle gear - helmets, jackets, gloves, pants and boots - on Australian road conditions.

They are having an open day on Sunday 19th March so that motorcyclists can see the methods used to test these different pieces of gear.

If you would like to go, click on this link, and make sure that you click on the red “Reserve Spot” button (top and to the right of the text).

If you attend, it'd be great to hear your thoughts in the comments section, below.

More about Motocap and the Open Day...

The Motorcycle Clothing Assessment Program (MotoCAP) was established by government agencies, private companies and motorcycle rider organisations in Australian and New Zealand to provide independent information to motorcyclists on the safest gear for their ride.

We know that riders wearing protective clothing are less likely to be seriously injured and less likely to be hospitalised if involved in a crash.

At the open day, attendees can expect to learn how jackets, pants and gloves are tested for MotoCAP, including:
- Abrasion resistance testing
- Seam strength burst testing
- Impact protector impact testing
- Breathability testing, with a thermal sweating hot plate
- Water spray testing for water resistance.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss all things motorcycle gear with MotoCAP Chief Scientist Associate Professor Chris Hurren and his team.
